AgriPVplus Network

To support the European Union’s aims to become climate neutral by 2050 and to counteract further competition for land, we use an interdisciplinary approach to systematically combine #agriculture (Agri), #energy production through Photovoltaic (PV), and #biodiversity conservation (plus).

Current Agri-PV concepts aim at dual land use through agricultural production and renewable energy generation through #photovoltaics. By coupling measures to promote biodiversity, the synergy effects of these multifunctional land use systems can be increased, and practical impacts to combat the biodiversity crisis can be achieved.

To promote this triple-use approach, we are building an AgriPVplus test facility at our #CampusBernburg. This test facility will consist of vertical bifacial PV modules, wildflower strips along the modules, and drought-tolerant #crops that proved suitable in former trials for the Central German Drylands, like durum wheat, millet, and soybeans.
